Hi Steve,
Thank you for reaching out to Nature’s Way Bird Products. Rest assured the hummers can reach the nectar in your feeder all the way at the bottom without additional tubes or parts. To drink, the hummingbird sticks its beak into the flower or opening and then extends its tongue into the nectar. The hummingbirds’ tongues are about twice as long as their beak and they can reach far down in to drink the nectar. You can read more about how a hummingbird drinks on our website blog “How does a hummingbird eat”. All the best.
Just bought a canning jar feeder… Big mistake I think. The feeding tubes barely go in to the nectar 1/2’ … So I need to make; say a cup of solution and the Hummers will get 1/5 of that solution? What were you thinking? I have 5 feeders now all different, all by small makers until you – they all work and deliver the goods to 100+ Hummingbirds. So many that a few years ago I moved the feeders to there own part of the yard where they birds can make a mess and it lands on a patch of lawn. If i added a tube to the feeder would it draw the solution upwards towards the feeders? (capillary action and all that)
Hi Cheryl, Thank you for reaching out! Please navigate to our blog about hummers not coming feeders at bit.ly/3fvQfX0 and happy birding!
Only have 1 hummer and have tried different solutions. What am I doing wrong. I have a red feeder?
Hi Dave,
Thanks for reaching out. The LED component of the feeder is not covered by the warranty but we do sell replacements (hover over ‘Products’ in the top menu above and click on ‘replacement parts’). Thanks!
