I bought this feeder for the larger capacity than most tube feeders. It has a metal top that is heavy, so when removed to fill the feeder it tips over. I have to prop it against something to fill it. It does tend to spill a great deal of seed with bird feeding and if windy. I recently filled it with expensive safflower seed being used to prevent grackles and starlings, and picked it up only to have the bottom fall out of it and spilled the entire contents out onto the ground. I discovered one of the side clips that holds it in place had broken. The feeder was never dropped or mishandled to cause it to break. I never did figure out what held the metal ring on the bottom in place. I used an industrial glue to repair it rather than replace it due to the cost.
