I am so disappointed!! Seed falls from the bottom of the feeder. I don't know if it falls out if a squirrel attempts to get on it, but the ground is covered with seed every afternoon. I am wasting seed every day!! SO DISGUSTED!!
Hi Diana. Thank you for reaching out and passing along your comments and photo. It appears your seed has a high percentage of millet. Seed containing a high percentage of types of millet and other small seeds do not create a lot of friction to hold the seed in place. In addition, most of these small seeds are not desired seeds of birds (especially types of millet and other “filler” seed), and will rot, creating bacteria/mold that is not healthy for the birds and attracts rodents and unwanted animals such as raccoons. We recommend filling the feeders with black oil sunflower seed or a seed mix with a high concentration of the black oil sunflower seed to prevent the seed spilling out and attract a large variety of birds. All the best.
The squirrels had no problem emptying the feeder. Either by hanging from the wires above and also by removing the plastic seed deflector so all the seed emptied by gravity. It then could not even be used with a pole shield. Sadly no return or guarantee from Nature Way or the store of purchase.
