First, the positives.
* the shield itself is made of sturdy metal and the paint job is great
* the brackets are adequately study to do their job.
Now, the negatives
* the adhesive used to attach the large paper label does not allow you to remove the label in one or a few pieces. You could have used a weaker adhesive and/or a vinyl label.
* the holes on the 2 brackets are confusing, at best. One is threaded, the other is not. The directions attempt to help explain. On one of the 2 baffles I bought, 1 bracket did not have either hole threaded, so I had to track down a nut (not included) to tighten the screw. Poor quality control.
* the baffle does not sit squarely on the bracket. It just wobbles around on top. I assume that helps to foil a squirrel jumping onto the baffle. But I am concerned that the constant vibrations will be passed into the bluebird house above, which may cause the birds to reject the house as a possible nesting site.
In summary, maybe this product was not intended to be used below a bird house. It looked like it would suit that application, but I'm concerned it may not.
Hi Bob. Thank you for passing along your concerns! You can reach out to our customer service team anytime via email info@natureswaybirds.com with product and part questions/concerns. Yes, you can use the baffle under a pole mounted bird house. As for the wobbling, the swing on the baffle is intentional as it prevents it from becoming a steady landing for squirrles if they were to jump on it. The baffle is also designed for a range of pole diameters so it won't necessary be a snug fit for all poles. Hope this helps and happy birding!
