How to make a suet wreath for birds

DIY Suet Wreath Bird Feeder

You’ll need:

• 2 cups fresh suet (from your local butcher or butcher department)
• 1 cup peanut butter
• 2 cups yellow cornmeal
• 2 cups fine cracked corn
• A sauverin or bundt cake pan
• Any festive bird-safe mix-ins you want!
  
• Strong rope or thick ribbon

How to make it:

1. Melt suet* in a saucepan over medium high heat. Allow it to cool thoroughly. 
2. Reheat. Add peanut butter, stirring until melted and well blended.
3. Add cornmeal and cracked corn to liquid and mix well.
4. Place decorative mix-ins in the bottom of cake pan.
5. Slowly pour liquid over the mix-ins into the cake pan and cool until hardened.
6. Tie ribbon around the finished suet wreath, hang and enjoy!
   

*Tips for melting suet: Cut the suet into small pieces to speed up melting. Keep the lid on the saucepan and avoid lifting it - this helps retain heat and minimizes any unpleasant odors.
